Screen Door

I've been lucky to have Chuck (cousin) come up a couple times from GA and give me a hand with some projects around the house! This screen door looks like any easy project huh? Ha... not if it's a Shaw project! :-) When the front door was originally installed it was totally wrong. So the first step to installing the screen door was to rip the existing front door out and re-install it correctly. Haha it get's better... well considering this is a log home, the exterior walls are solid yellow pine. Of course the initial opening was too small so I had to make a cut across the top of the opening to make it taller. This was accomplished with a saw-zaw. (Chuck always seems to find a tool I don't have! LOL My tool collection grows with each visit.) This was heightened to a new sense of fun as I sawed through many knots, standing on a ladder with saw dust in my face! (Chuck was kind enough to take the supervisorly role. hehehehe) It was an all day project and I was whupped by the time we cleaned the tools up! We've been enjoying the wonderful breeze. (I'm still wondering if all that work was really necessary! :-P) I just need to put some polyurathane on it and we'll be good to go. I've enjoyed the time spent with Chuck. He's taught me a ton in just a few short visits. I'm saving for hardwood floors next. Charlie you may need a vacation day to recover from the next project! hahaha

New Kitchen Table

We finally bit the bullet and bought a new kitchen table. The table top is solid red oak while the legs on the table and chairs are hickory, and yes the bark is still on parts. :-) It comes with 2 leaves and six chairs. Built by the Amish we paid... well... let's just say a little higher than we initially budgeted. ;-) However, at least we have room for company to eat at a table like civilized humans do! LOL We are hoping to possibly get a matching bed... dreading the cost.

Look what I did!

I am in a monthly swap with a group of ladies from around the U.S. Every month someone hosts a different swap. This month Melissa hosted the swap and it was an inspiration box. We each had partners and got a bunch of scrap stuff "we" liked not our partner. We mail the box and they have to create something with the products in the box. I had so much fun. I used colors that I dont normally put together... they are now my new favorite colors to work with.
take a look and tell me what ya think!

Friends

It seems like such a simple word. When I think of the word I think of a few different things....Loyalty, support, giving, listening, laughter. I have had friends (or who I thought were friends) come and go. I eventually became disgusted with the whole situation of friends leaving so I said forget it... I don't need them. I can exist with out friends. Having a friend is highly over rated.
Then I met Carina. She is Roberts wife and Robert is a guy on Tim's team that he works on. I met Robert first and thought he is nice, I could handle him hanging out with Tim. Robert mentioned that he has a wife and a little girl named Milan and she is 7 months. He also said that his wife likes to scrapbook! Well that is all I had to hear. I had to meet her. So they came over one Saturday and we all had a great time laughing and talking. Carina and I talked about getting together some other weekend and we would scrap. I have to admit I thought to myself "Yeah right...she won't call" Well I was working the next Saturday and Robert called to see if we wanted to go out to dinner, after I got home from work we all went out. I asked Carina what she was doing next Sat and she said nothing. I suggested we go to the scrap store and then we could just hang out for awhile. ( again I am still expecting her to blow me off) So the following Sat Tim and I are heading back from Hickory, we had to pick up the other 2 kitchen chairs. She called on the cell phone and asked if we were still going to the scrapbook store. I said sure (surprisingly happy) and then she said lets go to a movie. Umm ok sure. Now I am in disbelief because it has been so long since someone has asked me to do something and really wants to do it.
We spend the day together window shopping, went to the movies and saw failure to launch, went to the scrap store and had lunch. We laughed, shared secrets, and past life issues. Lets keep in mind that I have known her a total of 3 wks. I know her better then people I have known for years. She paid her own way for everything and even bought me lunch. It was a great day and I really needed a girl's day out.
So in conclusion I take back what I said about friends... they are not over rated, but a great asset. They help keep a person sane.
Thank God for friends!!
Peace and Love,
Sabrina
